Labradorite is a plagioclase feldspar mineral, best known for its labradorescence – an optical effect where metallic colors flash across the surface when light hits at the right angle. First discovered on the Labrador Peninsula in Canada in 1770, it is also found in Finland, Norway, and Madagascar.
